ARRIVAL OF NEW N.Z AIR CHIEF
GROUP-CAPTAIN H. SAUNDERS. [ Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 25. To replace Group Captain the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, Chief of the Air Staff, Group - Captain H. Saunders arrived with his wife and family by the Mataroa from London. He said'it was proposed to dispatch from England in the near future 30 Vickers Wellington bombers which had been ordered from Britain. The bombers were most modern and would have a normal cruising range of between 700 and 800 miles, but the maximum range was about 1800. Referring Io the international situation he said he thought it probably a little better than in September, out it was still serious. Group Captain Saunders will remain in New Zealand for about two years, when it. is hoped by the authorities that a New Zealander will over the appointment. have been sufficiently trained to take
