Mr. J. Currie who has been manager of the Waverley branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has received notice of his transfer, on promotion, to managership of the Thames branch.
The Rev. H. T. Peat, of Upper Hutt, has been appointed senior chaplain of the Methodist Church of New Zealand by the annual conference of the Church.
The Rev. Father A. Galerne, S.M., chaplain to the Sacred Heart Convent, St. John’s Hill, for the last eight years, has been transferred to Sydney. Father Galerne has taken an active part in Maori mission work in the Wanganui district and for a time was spiritual director of the Aramoho branch of the St, Vincent de Paul Society.
Constable J. J. Harvey, orderly of the Supreme Court, Wellington, retired on Tuesday after 40 years’ service with the Police Department. On behalf of the Court staff, the registrar, Mr. W. W. Samson, made a presentation to Constable Harvey.
Archbishop T. O'Shea, Wellington, was, according to latest advices, to leave Europe for the United States about the end of March. Since then, however, his Holiness the Pope has died, and it is assumed that his Grace will have proceeded to Rome, where he would probably remain till after the coronation of the new Pope.
The Rev. W. T. Blight arrived at Wellington from Auckland by the Limited express on Tuesday to join the Maunganui for Melbourne. Dr. Blight, who has been resident tutor at the Trinity Theological College, intends spending a year in Victoria and on his return will take up circuit work in the Methodist Church.
