TIMBER WORKERS’ UNION
ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD [ Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 24. The appointment of Mr. A. Humphreys (Wellington) as secretarytreasurer of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union was confirmed at the annual conference which ended in Christchurch to-day. Mr. J. Read (Wellington) was elected president of the union and Mr. F. Craig (Auckland) vice-president.' One of the principal questions dealt with by the conference was the constitution of the union. The rules will be redrafted in the next few months and will be submitted for adoption to the next annual conference.
The report issued by the president said that many matters of importance to workers in the industry were considered and the large volume of business transacted would have the effect of solidifying the organisation and improving the conditions for workers. A detailed report would be issued to members.
