INSTITUTE OF OPTICIANS
CONFERENCE ATTENDANCES GROWING. [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. Prominent Australian opticians will be invited to attend the next annual conference of the New Zealand Institute ol Opticians which will be held in Wellington, probably in February, 1940. The decision to hold the conference in Wellington and invite overseas opticians was made at the annual conference of the institute in Wellingtoh to-day. This year there was one of the largest attendances at the conference for many years, nearly 50 delegates being present, and members said to-day that the attendance next year would probably be even larger.
Mr. H. F. Deverell was elected an honorary member of the institute in recognition of his work during the early days of the organisation. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. R. Bro.'ke-Taylor; vice-president, Mr. G. I*. Cox; treasurer, Mr. H. S. Gilberd; secretary, Mr. L. A. Notley; executive committee, Messrs. E. A. Sargent, W. T. Wilson, E. A. Boyd, R. T. Shanks, F. O. Davis (all of Wellington), C. Martyn (Auckland) and L. N. Medlin (Dunedin); executive representatives. Messrs. L. A. Andrews (Waikato), R. C. Bailey (Palmerston North), B. M. Bennett (Napier), A. H. T. Rose (Christchurch); librarian, Mr. G. E. Cox.
