Mr. Colin Hornig, Kopuawhara, has received notification from the Institute of Civil Engineers, London, that he has been awarded the Bayliss Prize in respect of the October membership examination of the institution.
Sir Harry Twyford, Lord Mayor of London last year, sailed for New Zealand on February 2 and will spend three weeks fishing before going on to Australia. Sir Harry was last in New Zealand more than 30 years ago. when he was in the employ of the Eastern Telegraph Co.
Mr. K. W. Dalrymple, of Bulls, was welcomed hack by the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association on Thursday after his recent spell in hospital, pleasure being expressed that he was now restored to health.
Mr. W. G. Fisher, Lower Hutt, who has been in the stationmaster's office, Wellington, for some years, has received notice of transfer on promotion to be chief clerk of railways at Bluff. Mr. Fisher is a prominent golfer, and has been a member of the Hutt Club for eight years, and its honorary secretary for five years. Mr. J, H. Kissling, poultry manager and lecturer at Massey Agricultural College, sails on Tuesday next for England, where he will spend ten weeks prior to proceeding to the United States to attend, as New’ Zealand's official representative, the World Poultry Congress at Cleveland (Ohio) in July and August. He will visit Canada before returning to New Zealand.
