LIVESTOCK MARKETS

PAHIATUA EWE FAIR The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., offered more than 5000 ewes and a few pens of lambs to a small attendance of the public at the second Pahiatua ewe fair on Tuesday. Few outside buyers were present, and prices generally were easier than at the first fair. For four-year ewes, Messrs’ Smart’s Estate's entry topped the sale at 20s. Of the two-tooth ewes, a particularly outstanding line offered in conjunction with Abraham and Williams, on account of Messrs. Dougherty Bros., sold at 26s 3d, topping the sales by auction. An attractive pen of wellbred and grown woolly ewe lambs, offered in conjunction with Abraham and Williams, on account of C. C. Tolley, went to a Masterton buyer, after keen competition, at 20s 7d.
