INTER-HOUSE SPORTS

MARTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL (Own Correspondent.) MARTON, Feb. 22. A beautiful day favoured the Marton District High School for its interhouse sports on the Marton Park this afternoon and there was a fair attendance of spectators. Several competitors showed promise of making their mark in the world of sport and should acquit themselves creditably later on in years. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies’ auxiliary and the pupils were regaled with cordials, sandwiches and cakes. After a keen contest Blue House won the House Shield with 761 points, followed byBrown House 681, Red House 66, and Green 65. At the conclusion of the sports Dr. R. A. Church, chairman of the committee, presented the shield to the captains of Blue House, congratulating all the competitors on their athletic prowess. The sports were held during Physical Fitness Week and exercise was necessary to keep both mind and body fit. The pupils should appreciate the good work carried out by" the teachers in the sports department, and the pupils responded with three hearty cheers for their teachers.
