DEMONSTRATION OF FOLK DANCING
In connection with Physical Fitness Week, pupils of the Wanganui Girls’ College on Wednesday contributed an afternoon of physical drill and folk dances from many lands.
The- display took place on the lawn, under the direction of the drill mistress, Miss Joyce Lamont, and music was provided by Mrs. Audrey Naumann and pupils. The whole school took part in the opening number, “Tantali,” a most effective dance of Swedish origin, and the items contributed by the various forms were carried out in an attractive manner. The enjoyable programme concluded with a spirited Serbian students’ dance entitled “Djatchko Kala."
