The death occurred recently at Rarotonga of one of the great chiefs of the island, Makea nui Tinirau Ariki, who was buried with fitting native ceremony. The photograph shows members of the Tinomoana family carrying the casket on the road to the churchyard gate. Three clergymen—the Rev. H. W. Cater, the Rev. R. L. Challis, and the Rev. Mr. Paike—are in the van of the procession.
