SCHOOL CRICKET
WIN FOR COLLEGIATE MATCH WITH HAWKE’S BAY ELEVEN , The Wanganui Collegiate School first eleven scored a meritorious win over Mr. A. S. Wilder’s eleven from Hawke’s Bay in a cricket match played on the Collegiate ground yesterday, by 50 runs on the first innings, only time saving the visitors from an innings defeat. The visiting team was dismissed for 101 in the first innings, Nation (20) top-scoring, while bowling hoik ours for Collegiate were won by Stanford, three for eight. In reply, Collegiate compiled 151 for eight wickets (declared), fine scores being registered by Mackie (45) and Newman (34). Against the deadly lefthand bowling of Stanford, whose final average read live for 11, the visitors could compile only 66 in the second strike, the last wicket falling in the final over of the day.
