ARAMOHO VICAR
NEW APPOINTMENT THE REV. R. GODFREY FOR GREY LYNN. The Rev. R. Godfrey, vicar of Aramoho, Wanganui, has been appointed vicar of the parochial district of St. Columbia, Grey Lynn, in succession to the Rev. H. Squires, who has resigned on being appointed to the office of City Missioner in Wellington. Mr. Godfrey, who was a student at St. John’s College, was ordained to the deaconate in 1915 and to the priesthood in the following year by the Bishop of Wellington. After serving as assistant-curate at Masterton for three years, Mr. Godfrey was accepted for work in Melanesia, where he was stationed as a mission priest, first in the Banks Islands in 1918-19, and then at Rapa from 1920 to 1927. In 1927 he was appointed warden of the mission college at Lolowai, where he remained until 1935.
The Bishop ot Melanesia appointed him Archdeacon of South Melanesia in 1933. Mr. Godfrey resigned from the mission in 1935, and, for almost two years, was assistant priest at St. James' Sydney. In 1937 he was appointed vicar of Aramoho in the diocese of Wellington.
