THE MALIGIGI INQUIRY INCIDENT AT TE RAPA The adjourned inquiry into the running of Malagigi in the Storey Memorial Handicap at Te Rapa last Saturday was concluded on Monday. The stewards expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which H. N. Wiggins rode Malagigi and considered that he showed lack of judgment and incompetence along the back stretch during the race. The stewards were of the opinion that there was an element of doubt about the matter and decided to take no further action. The stewards considered that Wiggins had no right to punish the horse by hitting him on the head in lhe way it was alleged he did in the home stretch, resulting in an injury to the horse's eye, and decided to impose a line of £5. Wiggins stated that lie had touched Malagigi on the side of the head with the whip in an endeavour to keep him from boring out.
