TIMARU GAS COMPANY. A dividend of 4 per cent, is recommended to be paid to shareholders by the directors of the Timaru Gas, Coal and Coke Co., Ltd., in the annual report. These figures include the undivided profits of the subsidiary, the Victoria Brewery (£6670 in 1938). With its subsidiary the Carlton Brewery holds at 32 per cent, interest in the Carlton and United Breweries, Ltd. Dividend for the year is unchanged at 15 per cent., and requires £122,550. Carlton Brewery shares arc priced on the Stock Exchange at 665, to give a return to the investor of 4* per cent, at a dividend rate of 15 per cent, per annum. . AUSTRALIAN GLASS. Three new subsidiaries of Australian Consolidated Industries, Limited, formerly Australian Glass Manufacturers, Limited, have been registered in Australia.

The registrations are:—Australian Glass Manufacturers Company, Proprietary, Limited, formed to manufacture' and deal in all kinds of glassware, capital, £5,000,000 in £1 shares; A.G.I. Plastics Proprietary, Limited, formed to manufacture and deal in plastic and moulding ware, capital, £lOO,OOO in £1 shares; and A.G.I. Investments Proprietary. Limited, capital £3,000,000. The directors of the two first-named companies are Sir Alexander Stewart and Messrs. E. N. Grimwade, H. W. Grimwade, F. J. Smith, W. J. Smith guid T. C. Alston. The same directors comprise the board of the investment company with the exception that Mr. Alston is not included.

The companies have been formed as a result of the proposed reconstruction of the former Australian Glass Manufacturers Company, Ltd., of Melbourne.
