TALLOW, HEMP AND FRUIT The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram frorthe High Commissioner for New Zer. land, London, dated 17th instant:— Tallow.—Market steady on spot; small business has been done for shipment. Present spot quotations are:— Mutton: Fine 24s 6d to 255, good 21s to 21s 6d, fair 16s 6d to 17s. Beef: Fine 20s 6d to 21s, good JBs. fair 16s to 126 s 6d. Mixed: Good 18s, fair 16s to 16s 6d, gut 14s to 15s 6d. Mutton: Dark to dull 15s to 16s 6d. Beef: Dark to dull 14s to 15s 6d. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet and easier; “K” grade February-April shipment sold down to £l7 7s6d. Sisal: Market quiet and easier; closing value No. 1 February-April shipment £l6 15s. New Zealand: Nothing to report. Apples.—lmproved demand. Opegon Newtown, 12s, 13s. British Columbian Newtowns, Ils, 12s. Pears.—Market weaker and slightly lower. Californian Winter Nelis, 9s 6d, Ils. Washington Anjou pears, 10s. 13s.
