WANGANUI HEALTH CAMP

LADIES’ COMMITTEE FORMED A meeting of ladies was held yesterday at the office of the health camp secretary, for the purpose of forming an auxiliary committee to assist in the smooth running of the health camp which is now ready for occupation, Mrs. A. McPhail was unanimously voted to the chair and others present were Mesdames Hair, N. R. Bain, A. H. McLean, R. G. Taiboys, L. Eide, and Miss Dean. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Mesdames W. J. Rogers, B. Bates and Misses Preston, S. Meuli, Gibbons and L. Watkins, all of whom expressed a desire to help in the work. Mr. A. R. Donaldson, secretary of the Health Camp Trust Board, explained the objects of the meeting and traced the growth of the health camp movement to its present almost complete position. It was resolved that a ladies’ auxiliary committee consisting of Mrs. A. McPhail (convener), Mrs. Hair, Mrs. N. R. Bain, Mrs. R. G. Taiboys, Mrs. A. H. McLean, Mrs. L. Eide, Mrs. W. J. Rogers, Mrs. Beaumont Bates, Miss Dean, Miss Gibbons, Miss S. Meuli, Miss L. Watkins and Miss Preston jre appointed with power to add to their number. It was further decided to meet at the health camp on Thursday morning at 10.30 for the purpose of meeting the matron and staff and discussing ways and means of helping in the running of the camp. Mrs. Bain reported that the Young Peoples’ League (Victoria League) would be very happy to help in several directions, and the offer was gladly accepted. Later it is hoped to appoint subcommittees for various activities, and the meeting adjourned until a conference between the trust board, the matron, ano the ladies’ auxiliary could be arranged to finalise the duties of the ladies’ auxiliary. Mrs. Donaldson, on behalf of the trust board, exnressed their grateful thanks for the splendid manner in which the ladies had entered into the spirit of the movement and stated that the trust board would avail themselves of the co-operation of the ladies’ auxiliary committee to the full.
