WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT OHAKEA The monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held last week, there being a fair attendance. Mrs. B. Frecklington (president) presided, and the afternoon opened with the “Ode to Friendship.” A welcome was extended to all new members and visitors. The correspondence was then dealt with, and the nomination papers were handed out for the election of the new committee next month. Then asocial afternoon was enjoyed with community singing and competitions. Competition winners were as follow: Mrs. Hazelwood and Mrs. Frecklington. It was decided to hold the usual picnic at Tangimoana on Saturday next, February 25, weather permitting. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hazelwood and Cameron and Miss Palmer. After a dainty afternoon tea was served, a very enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close with the playing of the National Anthem.
