Mr. L. A. Firkin, well known in musical circles, is leaving Timaru this week to take up a position in Hamilton.
The Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Industries and Commerce, who has been visiting Auckland, expects to return to Wellington to-day.
Mr. H. Webb, engineer of the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board, is on annual leave and is staying at Taupo.
Mr. Hugh Morrison, of the Wairarapa provincial centre of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, was a visitor to Wanganui yesterday.
The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, left Wellington at the week-end for Rotorua to attend a refresher course for Native school teachers. He expects to return to Wellington next Tuesday.
Mr. J. A. Fraser, of Melbourne, will judge the music sections at this year’s competitions in Christchurch. Mr. R. McSkimming, of Auckland, will be elocution adjudicator.
Dr. J. H. L. Cumpston, DirectorGeneral of Health of the Australian Commonwealth, and Mrs. Cumpston, arrived at Auckland from the south on Saturday.
Mr. Francis Romayne, Ohura, has been appointed a member of the Taranaki Land Board for a term of two years from February 4, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. N. R. Cleland, of Tahora.
Mr. M. A. Winter, of the Wanganui City Council engineering staff, has been successful in passing the Royai Sanitary Institute examination in sanitary science, which entitles him to full membership of the institute.
Mr. O. Hales, chairman of the Wanganui City Council's Works Committee. is visiting Auckland, and is attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Civil Engineers.
Mr. W. W. Mulihollond, Dominion president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, arrived in Wanganui yesterday and attended the farmers' rally, at Makirikiri, last night.
Mr. A, P. O’Shea, of Wellington, Dominion secretary of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, who has been in Wanganui during the past few days, left for Levin last night and will return to Wellington to-day.
Mr. W. Horobin, ot Waikanac, Dominion treasurer of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, attended the rally of farmers organised by the Makirikiri branch of the union and held last night.
Mr. N. O. Carlson, manager of Burns, Philp and Company, Limited, at Vavau, arrived at Auckland by the Matua on Sunday on leave. Mr. Carlson, who was accompanied by his wife, will remain in the Dominion a fortnight and then will probably visit Australia.
