Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, Feb. 21, p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman and extends on to the Dominion. Pressure is rather low to the south-east. Forecast.—Winds: West to south prevailing, strong at first in some exposed positions but gradually decreasing and later veering northwest about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough at first about Cook Strait and south of Hokitika and Nugget Point, but decreasing and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate south-west to southeast winds, later veering to north-west in the central and southern portions; seas rather rough In the far southern portion, elsewhere slight to moderate. Weather: A few scattered showers probable in south-western and southern coastal areas, but mostly fine. Temperatures cool to moderate. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John's Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 8 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperature: Maximum, 71deg. Fahr.; minimum, 59deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day. 7.17 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.53 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February:—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
