HUNTERVILLE CHALLENGE FOR HURN CUP ST. JOHN’S PROVE TOO GOOD A Hurn Cup challenge match was played yesterday between Hunterville (challengers) and St. John's (holders) on the St. John's green. Although Hunterville put up a good fight they could not head off the strong St. John’s rink. St. John's opened proceedings with a single, to which Hunterville replied with a 3 and a 1. The holders gained a further point on the next end. but Hunterville surprised by securing a full hand, making the score on the fifth end 9—2 in the challengers favour. Here Hunterville struck a bad patch of luck for they did not score on the next eight ends, while St. John’s put on 17 points, making the board 19 to 9 in their favour. Hunterville notched a couple of singles on the next two ends and St. John's replied with 2,2, 1. The board now read 24—11 in the holders’ Sivour on the 18th end. Hunterville scored on the three remaining ends, but they could not bridge the gap. Details :
