SENSATIONAL SMASH
HURDLE RACE AT TE RAPA ( Per Press Association.] HAMILTON, Feb. 19. A sensational smash marred the running of the Frankton Hurdles yesterday, half the field coming to grief in a crash resulting in one horse being destroyed and several riders admitted to hospital. At the first fence Seven Seas fell, and Star Artist, Donegal. Rozel, Aramis, Hopalong, and Cynical Smile all came down. Cynical Smile broke a stifle and was destroyed. T. Ferguson, rider of Seven Seas, broke a leg and P. Brady, on Star Artist, received a broken collarbone. Hopalong was lame on returning to the birdcage.
