FOUR MAORIS SENT TO GAOL

TWO WOMEN ASSAULTED | Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, Feb. 20. A sentence of four months’ imprisonment was imposed on each of lour Maoris who appeared before Jusof the Peace at Hicks Bay on charges of assaulting two women. The accused were Paparangihua Houkaumau, aged 24 years, Hera Houkaumau, aged 22 years, Re Wiri McClatchie, aged 21 years, and Heta Edwards, aged 20 years. Detective McWhirter stated that the accused had gone to the house of *a Maori woman, aged 80 years, and assaulted her, and also a young woman of 18 years.
