"The only way to escape international complications is to get off this earth. The United States was more detached from the European situation 20 years ago than she is to-day.” Mr. La Guardia also advocated selling surplus American commodities to countries who arc trusted friends at a price they can afford to pay. He thought this would swing the balance of trade away from the dictator nations.

G-men seized nine men who insisted that they were fishermen, from two launches anchored 300 yards off the naval reserve station at San Clemente, near San Diego, and charged -them with violating the anti-spy laws.

UNITED STATES TREASURY DISAGREEMENT WITH POLICY MONTREAL, Feb. 17. The Australian Associated Press states that the Assistant Secretary cf the Treasury, Mr. W. C. Taylor, has resigned because of his disagreement with the. policy of facilitating the French purchase of aeroplanes, holding that the United States must not take sides in world rivalries between the totalitarian States and other countries. '
