WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, Feb. 20, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone extends from Southern Australia on to the North Tasman. A westerly depression is crossing the South Island. Forecast.—Winds: West to south-west predominating, light to moderate in the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate to strong and gale force in a few places but decreasing to-morrow. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and parts of the west coast south of Kawhia, but decreasing to-mor-row; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Winds between west and south, light to moderate in the north with slight to moderate seas; moderate to strong in the south with rough but decreasing seas. Weather: Mostly fair to fine but occasional scattered but mainly light showers in western and far-southern districts of the South Island. Temperatures cool to moderate. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 10 hours 10 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperature: Maximum, 75deg. Fahr.; minimum, 52deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.19 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.7 i a.m. Phases of the Moon for February-—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
