ALMOST GENERAL BRAWL

UGLY SITUATION AT AUKLAND SEQUEL HEARD IN COURT [ Per Prets A.bOtiation. J AUCKLAND, Feb. 18. An ugly situation developed in Fergusson Street in the city last night as the result of an attempt by a constable to break up a fight between two young men, and for some time there was danger of a general brawl with the public taking part. One of the combatants escaped and when a struggle took place between the constable and the other man, part of the crowd took sides and entered into the fray.

In response to an urgent call, 15 detectives and constables were despatched to the scene. In the Police Court to-day a young man was charged with fighting, using obscene language and resisting the police, and a young woman was charged with disorderly behaviour and indecent language. Both were remanded.
