CANTERBURY TITLES N.Z. HURDLES RECORD BROKEN FITCH’S ATTEMPT ON 100 YARDS f Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19. One New Zealand record was broken at the Canterbury amateur athletic championships at Lancaster Park on Saturday. C. R. Bradweli, hurdles champoion, ran the 220 yards hurdles in 25 l-ssec., taking onefifth of a second off the record, held by P. F. Sharpley. Another highlight of the meeting was the appearance of the American professional coach, A. L. Fitch, who made an attempt on the American, Charlie Paddock’s record of 9sec. for 100 yards from a flying start. Fitch was paced by a cyclist and he recorded 9 1-5 sec.
