GERMAN MOTOR-CARS FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS HITLER SETS THE TASK (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) BERLIN, Feb. 17. Speaking at the motor show, Herr Hitler said: “We 80,000,000 Germans, united in ourselves, are such a magnificent consuming force in one single economic factor that we have now very favourable conditions for mass production in competition with the world markets. Our task is to lower our prices and unify and simplify our types.” Herr Hitler added that he had appointed a special representative to supervise and co-ordinate motor production and improve the German position in the car markets of the world.

THOUSANDS OF JULES OF MOTOR ROADS BERLIN, Feb. 17. The Minister of Propaganda, Dr. Goebbels, in a speech at the opening of the motor show, said that 1900 miles of motor roads had been built throughout Germany during the Nazi regime, and that it was intended to build a further 3000 miles in the nevt 10 or 15 years. They would be most important for defence purposes. Dr. Almass, President of the Reich Federation for the Motor Industry, said that although prices of raw materials in Germany were double these in United States, prices of cars were being reduced because of the more extensive use of artificial materials.

TRADE TALKS WITH GERMANY

ON MUCH LARGER SCALE DELEGATION TO BERLIN Received Feb. 19, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 17. The diplomatic correspondent of The Times says the trade talks between Britain and Germany will be on a larger scale than has been announced. The Rt. Hon. R. S. Hudson, Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Trade, and the Rt. Hon. Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Trade, are going to Berlin at the same time as the British Industries Federation mission. Investigations already have been carried out by the embassy commercial staff.

REICHSBANK VICE-PRESIDENT SUCCEEDED BY. DR. WHOLTHAT. Received Feb. 19, 5.5 p.m. BERLIN, Feb. 17. The Reichsbank vice-president, Herr Brinkmann, Herr Funk’s closest collaborator, is seriously ill, owing to a nervous breakdown. He will be succeeded by Dr. Wholthat, negotiator of the proposed Jewish agreement with Herr Rublee.

NEW GERMAN NEWSPAPER Received Feb. 19, 10.30 p.m. BERLIN, Feb. 18. A new German language daily newspaper, the Volksdeutsche Zeitung, appears to-morrow as the ofXfial Nazi organ.
