LIVESTOCK MARKETS

MANGAWEKA EWE FAIR Dalgety and Company Limited report on the above fair held on Tuesday last, when an entry of approximately 20,000 ewes was offered to a i large attendance of buyers from the Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki and Manawatu districts. The sheep came to hand in good condition, the quality being well up to the standard of recent years. Buyers operated freely for all good classes of 4 and 5-year-old ewes, and an excellent sale resulted with practically a total clearance, prices being on a par with recent sales. The entry comprised several lines of outstanding 2 and 4-tooth ewes which commanded great interest, and a very free sale resulted for the top lines. Mr. W. A. Davidson’s line of 2, 4,6, and 8-tooth ewes were of outstanding quality, and sold under keen competition, 33s 6d being obtained for a line of very attractive 4-tooth ewes. Mr. Green's 2-tooth ewes realised 30s, and Messrs. D. F. and F. H. R. Gorringes' annual drafts of 2-too*hs sold from 27s 2d to 27s 6d.

THE WAVERLE JB The Farmers’ Co-op. held their sale and supplementary ewe fair on Friday last, and report as follows: — The yarding came forward in excess of numbers advertised, but were not up to the standard of the previous sale, the ewes consisting mostly of 6-year ewes. The four-tooth wethers were a good line of sheep, also the six-tooths. The sale on the whole was a good one for the class of sheep offered. quote the following prices: Four and five-year ewes, chisel mouths but low in condition, 18s Id to 19s 6d; 5-year ewes in low condition, 14s to 12s 3d; 2-tooth ewe medium sheep, 23s 4d, 24s 3d to 25s 7d; 4-tooth wethers, early shorn, good condition, 17s 4d; ewe lambs, good, 17s 4d; ewe lambs, medium, 15s; ewe lambs, small, 5s 6d, 7s 9d to 10s 3d; cull wether lambs, 3s to 5s 6d; Southdown rams, 3& to Signs.
