YOUNG MOTOR-CYC LISTS HON. R. SEMPLE CRITICISES ROAD TOLL [ Per Pre=s CwociatioE. 1 AUCKLAND. Feb. 17. The desirability of forcing young people applying for a licence to ride motor-cycles to join some organisation which would train them in the careful use of the machines was expressed by the Minister of Transport, Hon. R Semple, in addressing members of the Auckland Road Safety Committee. In view of th? number of acc.dents involving motor-cyclists, the Minister considered that some form of training for learners was necessary. The remark was made when members of the committee asked the Minister if the Government intended stopping pillior riding and imposing severe restriction on motor-cyclists. Mr. Semple said he was satisfies that more had to be done to reduct the number of fatal accidents. While he had no special restrictions in mind the committee would have the oppor tunity of discussing the matter wit! him before anything drastic was con Jemplated.
