HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Die monthly meeting of the Suburban Horticultural Society was held last week. The president, Mr. M. F. Elliot, referred to the loss the society had suffered through the death of Mr. W. A. Izard. Reference was also made to the death of Mrs. Alice Irvine, sister of Mrs. Burrell Routine business consisted of an iteration in the date of the dahlia show, which is to take place on March 4. Mr. Jenkins, the society's secretary, has kindly offered the use of his lovely grounds at Wanganui East. Here another garden party show will be held, with games, competitions, stalls, music and refreshments, in a setting of delightful shade and beauty. The committee much appreciate the use of the D.I.C. rooms for the gladioli display.
