Changing Dominion Money.

How far-reaching is the difficulty being experienced by New Zealanders abroad in having Dominion banknotes accepted as tender is shown by the experience of a Salvation Army officer in Nairobi, Kenya. Recently this officer, Captain I. L. Cresswell, received £2 from New Zealand, and when she took it to the bank she was told that cabled advice had been received from New Zealand that this country's currency should not be accepted. But after the clerk had shown considerable doubt about changing it, she received for her £2 the sum of 275, 12s being accounted for by exchange and Is by bank charge. When she first went there about 18 months ago, Captain Cresswell states in a letter to Auckland, the New Zealand £1 was worth between 15s and 16s, and now it is worth 14s.
