SWIMMING CARNIVAL
WAVERLEY PROGRAMME BIG LIST FOR TO-NIGHT Excetpionally good entries have been received for the Waverley Swimming Club’s second carnival of the season, to be held in the Waverley baths to-night. Judging by the large number of events to be decided, with several heats in many of them, the carnival should attract a capacity “house.” Added attractions w.ll be the exhibition of diving to b* given by Mr. Norman Dyer whose appearance at the January carnival was so popular, and the appearance of Dave Lindsay in the men’s 50 yards handicap. Swimmers from all Wanganui clubs and also fiom Dannevirke, Stratford, New Plymouth and otl er centres will be participating In the scratch relay, six-a-side over 150 yards, Gonville, Wanganui East, Wanganui Central, Aramoho, Dannevirke, and Waverley have entered teams. New Plymouth Boys’ High School will also have a team in the handicap relay, four-a-side over 100 yards. Several heats will be required in many events. Thus there are five heats (or six) in the men’s 100 yards, two in the junior girls’ 25 yards, lour in the junior boys' 25 yards, two in the intermediate girls’ 50 yards, four in the intermediate boys' 100 yards, three in the 100 yards open breaststroke, and seven in the men’s 50 yards handicap. Nearly 30 have entered for the open dive. Altogether it is a programme which should attract considerable interest, and if the weather is fine the club should be well rewarded for its enterprise in staging such an ambitious carnivaL
