JVOTICE is hereby given that a Huge Rally of Farmers in connection with the Hill-country Farmer, is being organised by the Makirikiri Branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union, and will be held, on February 21, 1939, at 8.15 p.m., at the Makirikir Hall. The Agenda will be in the following form:— 1. Primary resolutions:— (a) An immediate proposal to deal with the urgency of the present position of the Sheep Farmer—abolitii i of rates, including hospital and land tax, in return for men taken out of Public Works Camps. (b) A long-range plan for the farming industry—a conscious economic policy which would base our economic structure on the Farming industries, and which would relate the wages paid in the various industries. 2. Consideration and passing of Combined Counties’ resolution re Deteriorated Lands or substitute resolutions. The Dominion President, Dominion Treasurer and Dominion Secretary will be present. QN February 23 and 25 a Special Train, stopping where required | for passengers, leaves Stratford. 7.5 a.m., Hawera 8.5, Patea 9.4, Waverley 9.29, Kai Iwi 10.27, Aramoho 10.58, arrives Racecourse 11.6, Wanganui 11.10 a.m. Return Train for Stratford leaves Wanganui 5.26 p.m., Racecourse 5.30, Aramoho 5.38 p.m. Usual 7.25 a.m. Hawera-Wanganui and 4.0 p.m. Wanganui-Hawera trains will NOT run. A Special Passenger Train for Marton leaves Wanganui 5.5 p.m., Racecourse 5.18 p.m. each day. EXCURSION FARES. Special Excursion Tickets, available for return until Monday, February 27, will be issued to Wanganui from Stratford, Palmerston North and intermediate stations by morning trains on February 23 and 25. ELECTION OF LICENSING COMMITTEE. NOTICE OF POLLING DAY. TN pursuance of the Electoral Act, 1927, and the Licensing Act, 1908, and their Amendments, I, John Henry Dashwood, Returning Officer for the Licensing District of Rangitikei, DO HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that an election will be held for the Licensing Committee for the said District; and that the latest hour for receiving nominations of Candidates will be noon on Wednesday, the Ist day of March, 1939; and that the Poll, if necessary, will be taken at the several polling places of the said district on the 14th day of March, 1939. Every person desirous of becoming a candidate must be nominaled by not less than TWO ELECTORS of the Rangitikei Licensing District, by a nomination paper as prescribed by Section 110 of the Electoral Act, 1927, delivered to the Returning Officer not later than noon on March 1, 1939.
