ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM IN WANGANUI
SIR JULIEN CAHN’S ELEVEN ONE-DAY MATCH TO BEGIN THIS MORNING VISITORS A TALENTED COMBINATION \ ■ A sporting- event of international importance rarely fails to awaken keen interest in Wanganui, and to-day’s cricket j match between Sir Julien Cahn’s English XI and a Wanganui : team will probably prove no exception to the rule. As a gesture to the great game of cricket, a pastime made prominent largely by Englishmen, Sir Julien has brought a talented side to the Dominion at a time when interest in cricket is in the ascendancy. Wanganui players have been looking forward to the visit enthusiastically, and during the past fortnight .special practice has been indulged in every day by 15 of the Wanganui Cricket Association’s leading- players, from whom a well-balanced, team has been chosen by the sole selector (Mr. E. C. Gee). The match is to begin at 11.30 a.m., the luncheon adjournment being taken at 1.15 p.m. The match will resume at 2 p.m. I and there will be a break of fifteen minutes for tea at 4 o’clock. ' Stumps will be drawn at 6 o’clock.
