"He is an extraordinarily long hitter,” von Nida said, "but he took us too cheaply. He is a good player, but a better showman.” Von Nida said that a strange sickness had affected him almost from the time of his arrival in Manila “When I left here I was 9st. 51b., now I am Bst. 101 b.,” he said. “The night before the championships, which I won, I lost 81b. in weight. I feel fit again, however. Eric Cremin and I are going to the American open ' and from there we will go to England for the British open.”
