CROQUET GAMES
FOR THE McLEOD CLP A challenge match for the McLeod Cup was played recently between the Durie Hill Croquet Club (challengers) and the Gonville Club on the latter’s greens. Durie Hill won the four games, the results being as follows:—Mrs. Bourgcous 26, v. Mrs McClymont 22; Mrs. L. Roche 26, v. Mrs. Lockett 20; Mrs. Wansbrougn 26, v, Mrs. Harrison 20; Mrs. Ogier 26, v. Mr. McClymont 24. The greens were fast and the contest very keen. The president, Mrs. F. Uttley, welcomed the players, and on the conclusion of play, in handing the cup to Mrs. Wansbrough, congratulated Durie Hill players on their outstanding play. Mr. Ogier thanked Gonville members for their kindness and hospitality and congratulated Mr. McClymont on having his bisques reduced to minus one, which made him the senior player in the Wanganui Croquet Association. Mr. McClymont returned thanks. The following are the results:— The weekly inter-club croquet played on Thursday resulted as follows : Mrs. Burling and Miss Notman (Wanganui) 26, v. Mrs. Wood aiffi Mrs. Uttley (Gonville) 18. Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Dixon (Durie Hill) 26, v. Mrs Currin and Mrs Bradshaw (Wanganui East) If. Aramoho 26; Wanganui defaulted. At the tea recess last Saturday, Mrs. Uttley took the opportunity of congratulating Mr. McClymont on having his bisques reduced. In speaking of the challenge games lot the cups she said the games gave the club a wonderful chance for fostering good-fellowship, also for good play.
