OVER A CENTURY WINNER OF LAST RACE AT EPSOM TRAINER AND TRAINERS SON DID NOT BACK CYRANO | Per l'iess Association. I AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. Odie man at least on the Alexandra Park racecourse yesterday was momentarily shocked into speechlessness as Cyrano won the last race, the Richmond Handicap, to return a dividend of nearly a century and a quarter, a record for the course. For half an hour that man had fingered his last pound while endeavouring Io find a.n outsider which might win. He was R. August, son ol the trainer and driver of the despisec Cyrano, but it never occurred to hinthat his heart's desire was to be fount in their own stable (the youngei August works with his father in hi; business). Only £l3 was invested on the winner for a wi.n and only £39 10s foi a place. One of the part-owners o. the horse had less than half a ticke oa him, while the driver, S. M August, failed to support, him at all.
