WANGANUI PLANS WEEK OPENS TO-MORROW J “Every sports club and local body we have approciched has offered its whole-hearted co-operation,” said Mr. W. J. Robinson, chairman of the sub-committee, at a meeting held m the City Council Chambers last night to finalise arrangements for the cerebration of “Physical Fitness Week” in Wanganui from to-morrow. February 18. The Mayor, Mr. W. J. Rogers, who presided, complimented the suocommittee (Mr. W. J. Robinson. Captain J. W. Barry, and Messrs. A. I C. Bourgeos, R. J. McDonald, and A. L. Rounthwaitc) on its work in compiling the programme for the week's activities. The programme, which proved, is as follows: Commencing Day, Saturday. February 18.—One-day cricket match Sir Julien Cahn's XI. versus Wanganui representatives. Sunday, February 19. Pulpit references in local churches to “Physical Fitness Week.” In the afternoon, al Castlecliff beach, demonstration by the Surf Club and local swimming clubs of swimming and life-saving. ; Monday, February 20.—Off day. Tuesday, February 21.—Off day. I Wednesday. February 22.—Secondary schools’ day: At. Girls’ College grounds, 2 to 4 p.m., demonstration! of folk dancing and drill; at Colle-: giate School. 11 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. 1 and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. —a cricket match. ’ Collegiate Mr. A. S. Wilder’s! (Hawkes Bay) eleven. At Gonvihe swimming baths: Afternoon, boys, first halt of the annual swimming sports ot the Wanganui Technical i College. The headmaster oi the Collegiate School (Mr. F. W. Gilligan) has intimated that sports activities at a'hich the public is invited to be present, will be held on the school grounds during the week. A similar intimation has been made by tne headmaster of the Intermediate School (Mr. H.
