PLAZA THEATRE
“SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS” “Snow White and the Sever Dwarfs,” the famous Disney fulllength feature, continues to draw large audiences at the Plaza Theatre The Wanganui season will conclude to-day with four sessions, including a special 10.30 p.m. session for late shoppers. Of the millions of persons throughout the world who see Walt Disney pictures each day, not al! realise that the principal reason for their universal appeal is the manner in which Disney endows animals with human foibles. This will be found particularly true in this picture. There are rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, several kinds of birds, tortoises, and deer—and not a villain among them. When Snow White becomes lost in the woods and breaks clown through fright, the little animals approach her timidly and befriend her, leading her to a safe haven. This happens to be the home of the seven dwarfs, where she lives until the Prince Charming finds her weeks later. “Miss Fix-It” The child actress Jane Withers will once again delight audiences with her bright personality in “Miss Fix-It,” which will be shown at the Plaza Theatre to-morrow. She appears as Jane Rand, an orphan girl whose ambition is to become a movie actress. During the school holidays, she visits Hollywood and discovers that her uncle, who is a director of the film industry, has lost his position. Jane proceeds to find a position for herself in the films, and to have her uncle reinstated. The methods she employs to accomplish her purposes are original and amusing. The romantic interest in the film is supplied by Henry Wilcoxon and Gloria Stuart, while among the other players are Helen Westley and Jed Prouty. A number of selected short features will complete a most entertaining programme.
