ROAD-SAFETY CAMPAIGN
W ELLINGTON LEADS DOMINION WEEK-ENDS FREE FROM FATALITIES [ Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Feb. 14. The Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, suggested to-day that all cities should fly road safety pennants during 1939 to see which could achieve the longest period of freedom from fatalities, to prepare for traffic in the centennial year, and to keep before citizens the need for saving lives on the road. He announced that a new Wellington pennant, the gift of the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. H. M. Luckie, was being raised shortly, replacing the one lowered owing to the recent fatality. Wellington still led the Dominion in the number of “Mondays” free from fatalities.
