HONOURS BOARD
INTENTION OF WANGANUI MUSEUM NAMES OF MEN GREAT IN SCIENCE The keeping of an Honours Board at the Alexander Museum to perpetuate the memory of Wanganui citizens who have distinguished themselves in the field of science, was approved of yesterday's meeting of the Board of Trustees. The suggestion was macle by Mr. H. C. Veitch, who said that he had been appalled, while engaged in his work of compiling a historical record for the museum, by the public's apparent forgetfulness of such men as Mr. J. P. Ward, formerly director of the Wanganui Observatory and a world authority on astronomy. Mr. Veitch suggested that the names of distinguished men should not be entered on the Honours Board until three years after their death. The matter was left in the hands of Messrs. Veitch. L. J. B. Chapple and F. Smith.
