Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Gullery, Gonville, have returned after a month vacation at Waikanae Beach.

Canon D. B. Malcolm, of Wellington, will be the preacher at Christ Church, Wanganui, on Sunday night next.

The Rev. F. R. Rawle, precentor at the Christchurch Cathedral since 1926, will preach his last sermon there next Sunday and will leave shortly to live in retirement in the North Island. Archdeacon J. R. Young, of Wanganui, is visiting Wellington attending a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Diocese. He is expected back in Wanganui to-morrow. The Rev. R. Dudley, Mr. E. V. Laws, Mr. F. J. Whitlock and the Rev. C. W. Brown are to represent Wanganui at the annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, whfch opens at Christchurch to-morrow. The Rev. Father C. J. Outtrim and Rev. Father E. Larsen, will represent the Wanganui parish at the solemn Requiem Mass which will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Angels Church, Wellington, to-morrow, for the repose of the soul of Pope. Pius XI. The celebrant of the Mass will be Monsignor T. F. Connolly, and the sermon will be given by Rev. Father J. Spillane, Superior of the Marist Mission staff.

Mr. Denis Lightband, a graduate in engineering of Canterbury University College, is visiting Christchurch after an absence of 15 years. After gaming additional qualifications in the United States and working there for seven years, he went to England, where he has since been employed. He returned to New Zealand last month to advise on the intsallation of electrical equipment on the Wellington-Paekakariki and Wellington-Johnsonville railway lines. Mr. Lightband, who is a son of Mr. Harold Lightband, Christchurch, will return to England in about three weeks.
