' The first season’s operations for • the breeding of horses under the Re--1 mounts Scheme subsidised by the 'Government are likely to exceed the ’sanguine anticipations previously 'held by the authorities. Quoting to a race club deputation the information he had, received of the results so far, the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, said that when all the returns were in it would be found that between 700 and 800 marcs had been served by stallions offering under the scheme. Some excellent progress reports by Major-General Young, who had undertaken inspection work on behalf of the New Zealand Racing Conference, had been J sent to the Hon. W. Lee Martin, ’Minister of Agriculture. I ‘‘The work is efficiently organised land thoroughly done,” Mr. Parry I added, “and from it will come even i greater results than were anticijpated.”
