STANLEY McKAY’S “GAIETIES'
OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT To-night at the Opera House Stanley McKay’s "Gaieties of 1939” Vaudeville Co. is to commence its short season of three nights and a matinee. Mr. McKay’s sho*s have always been most popular in Wanganui, and the new company promisee be the best vet brought to the Dominion by this management. The leading comedian, Stan, Foley, comes from Australia with a big reputation, his two years’ starring in Brisbane speaking for itself. He will be associated in a number of up-to-the-minute sketches with Alac McKinnon, the clever little Scotch comedian and dancer. Mr. McKay also has pleasure in presenting Geo. Hurd, the international Royal Command juggling star, who is recognised as the successor to tile famous Cinquivall. Features of each revue are the delightful song scenas in which Stella Collier (soprano) and Barry Ross (baritone) have leading roles. The outstanding speciality artists include Scotty and Dolly, Australia’s premier dancing duo; Stella Lamond, the personality girl; San Remos Bros., remarkable hand balancers; Nellie Kolle, male impersonator; Max Reddy, light comedian; Assam, Pekoe, Souchen and Congo, crazy acrobatic clowns; and Snowy Towers and Jerry Keogh in the latest dances. The "Gaieties" Beauty Ballet, May Brooke’s orchestra, beautiful dressing and the last word in staging and lighting help in no small measure in the success of the productions.
