An anti-cyclone is approaching across the North Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds: Between south-west and south, moderate to strong generally reaching gale force at a few exposed positions but later decreasing and veering in south to west and north-west. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough, decreasing later except about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh south-westerly winds later gradually veering to west and north-west. Seas slight to moderate. Weather: A few isolated showers, mainly in coastal areas south of New Plymouth and Napier but the weather mostly fair to fine. Temperatures cool but rising to-morrow. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John's Hill, report Lor 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunsnine, 1 hour 40 minutes. Rainfall, a trace. Temperatures: Maximum, 59deg. Fahr.; minimum, 53deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.29 pm. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.43 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February:—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
