PARISIENNE “AFFAIR"

FORBURY PARK INCIDENT ; STEWARDS’ ALTERNATIVE. INQUIRY LEFT 'i’O ASSOCIATION. I [ Per Press Association.* DUNEDIN, Feb. 13. l he president, Mr. B. S. Irwin, occupied the chair at a full meeting of stewards of the Forbury Park Trot* Ling Club this afternoon to consider the resolution passed last week by the Board ot lhe New Zealand Trotting Association regarding “lhe very great, discrepancy between the respective performances of the horses Parisienne and Lucky Jack in lhe Dunedin Cup I Handicap on the first day of the For- 1 bury Park Trotting Club’s summer! meeting and their respective perform- j ances in the Metropolitan Handicap on the second day of the same meeting.” The board was of the opinion ! I hat an inquiry should be held for the purpose of ascertaining lhe reason for such discrepancies, and suggesting lhe I advisability of the Forbury Park 1 '[’rotting Club holding such inquiry. If, however, the Forbury Park Club 1 should prefer not to do so, the association proposed to hold one, as there f | was a very strong feeling that the re- ( | spec-live performances were so in- 1 { consistent as to justify those con- ■ cerned being called, upon to give an j I explanation of the discrepancies. ' The meeting of the stewards of the ' | Forbury Park Club to-day was held 1 1 in committee, but from what can be gathered lhe stewards found that j they had little, if any, additional in- ( formation to work on to enable them ( to come to a definite decision. In the , circumstances they decided that un- ' less the stipendiary steward at the ; meeting in question, Mr. F. Beer, had [ fresh information to place before , them, they could not proceed any fur- £ '.her. They therefore accepted the alterntive offered them by the Trot- < ling Association and agreed to ask it to conduct the inquiry. There seems t a doubt, however, whether the asso- ; ciation has power under the RuTes of 1 Trotting to conduct the inquiry. c ~ (
