CHARGE OF SPYING
AKS ATI AN' AUTONOMIST Received Feb. 10, 5.5 p.m. STRASBOURG, Feb. 9. It is understood that Dr. Karl Roos, the autonomy leader, will be charged with espionage in connection witn visits which he allegedly made to Kehl during the crisis. A man named Schmidt has also been arrested, and it is believed th'.t he will face a similar charge.
A cablegram v eceived from Strasbcuig yesterday staled: The le tder Gf the Alsatian autonomists, Dr. Karl Re<*s, and seveial of his followers have been arrested. All are suspected of plotting against the State as the result of the discovery of compromising documents in their homes. Dr. Roos was acquitted of a similar charge in 1928. He later preached the Nazi gospel and supported the Munich Agreement as a triumph for German nationalism, declaring that France was a small nation without glory.
