LABOUR SHORTAGE

MILLION IN GERMANY BERLIN, Feb. 9. Germany's need for more labour for industry is dealt with in an official report in which there is a hint of longer hours and harder work. New sources of labour last year included 150,000 who were combed from the unemployed, and 670,000, who were mobilised from domestic employees and pensioners. Despite this, there is an estimated deficiency of 1,000,000 workers in 1939, necessitating rationalisation and more intense use of existing' labour.
