POREWA MEETING

Very few members were present at the monthly meeting of the Porewa Women’s Institute hel dat the residence of Mrs. L. Cockburn.

An apology was received from the president, Miss Cockburn, her place being taken by Mrs. Carpenter, vicepresident. Together with the previous report a small amount of correspondence was read. Owing to unfavourable weather conditions the picnic, which was to have been held last month, was postponed until a later date. Cream puffs were decided on for the competition next month. The best bloom resulted in a win for Mrs. Frederick, with a rose, Miss Carson 2, a hydrangea, and Mrs. Sanders 3> a carnation.

A very dainty afternoon tea was then served.

Mrs. Cockburn was thanked for the use of her home, and the meeting was closed.
