LAMB SLIGHTLY EASIER [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. The Meat Producers’ Board report on the Smithfield market covering the period ended February 9 states:— Lamb Market.—Downs are unchanged, but others are slightly lower, heavy Australian stocks tending to depress the market. Wethers and ewes are showing an improved demand, but values are unchanged. Chilled beef: With heavier Dominion arrivals prices are a shade easier. The New Zealand porker pigs trade is slow and prices are unchanged. New Zealand baconer pigs are unchanged, but the tendency is easier owing to the weaker bacon market. Quotations are:— New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury, other South Island, and North Island Downs.—Not quoted. North Island first quality: 361 b and under, 74d; 37-421 b, 7«d; second quality, average about 311 b, 7d. Australian.—Victorian: First quality, 29-361 b, 6gd. Argentine.—First quality: 361 b and under, 61d; 37-421 b, sld. Chiled beef prices are the approximate average prices realised for the week:— New Zealand, 51d. 3Jd; Australian, sid; 3£d; South African, not quoted; Argentine, fores, 4id; Brazilian, s&d; others are unchanged.
