Considerable damage was caused by a fire at the Government Housing Department's joinery factory at Penrose to-night, when the inside of two small buildings were completely gutted. Prompt action bv the sole employee on duty at. the time, and firemen from three suburban station* prevented the outbreak from penetrating the main joincrv shop. Since the erection of the factory a few years ago ’here have been several similar outbreaks, the last being ai Christmas.
